Why was my account limited?

If you’ve landed here, your yttrx account may have been automatically limited while a moderator reviews it. This page explains what that means, why it happens, and how to appeal. If this was a mistake, it’s quick to undo — just email us.

What “limited” means

A limited (also called silenced) account is not deleted. You can still log in and post, but while the limit is in place your posts and profile are held back from public and federated timelines, so they reach fewer people. It’s a reversible, temporary measure — not a ban.

Why it happens

yttrx is a small, human-run community, and we use a light bit of automation to slow down spam before it spreads. When several different members independently report the same recently-created or newly-active account, our system temporarily limits that account and flags it for a person to review.

A few things worth knowing:

  • It takes more than one report. A single report — or many reports from the same person — will never limit an account on its own. The signal has to come from multiple, independent members.
  • A human always reviews it. The automatic limit just buys time; the report stays open and a moderator looks at it. Nothing is permanent without a person in the loop.
  • It’s reversible. If the limit was applied in error, we lift it.

We deliberately don’t publish the exact numbers behind this — doing so would just help spammers tune around it.

How to appeal

If you believe your account was limited by mistake, email admin@yttrx.com and include:

  1. Your full handle (e.g. @you@yttrx.com).
  2. A short note on what you were posting and why you think the limit was a mistake.

A real person reads that inbox. We’ll review your account and reply, and if it was a false positive we’ll restore you right away. If your client also shows an in-app option to appeal a moderation decision, you’re welcome to use that too — it reaches the same moderators.

Thanks for helping keep yttrx a decent place to be. 💜
